Call for Papers

As a premier ACM conference for interdisciplinary research linking computer science, mathematics, statistics, biology, medicine, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, and health informatics, over the past 14 years, ACM-BCB annual conference has risen to be among the top 20 most influential Bioinformatics and Computational Biology referred journals and conferences by Google Scholar. As of today, ACM-BCB has h5-index=28 and h5-median=50.

Use of OpenReview & Double-Blind Review Process

To further improve the quality and the impact of ACM-BCB, starting from 2023, the organizing committee (OC) will adopt a fully open double-blind review process via OpenReview.net. It will not only enhance the transparency of the review process, but it will also improve the paper quality by enabling interactions among the authors, reviewers, and the research community.

Expansion of Partner Journals

Expansion of Partner Journals We are also happy to announce exciting new partnerships with several leading journals in the field, which will publish selected original full-length research papers accepted by ACM-BCB 2024. Currently, our partner journals include (pending for approval):

  • IEEE/ACM Transaction on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (confirmed)
  • Big Data Mining and Analytics (confirmed)
  • iScience
  • ACI-Applied Clinical Informatics Journal
  • IET Systems Biology
  • Patterns
  • IEEEJournal of Biomedical and Health Informatics
  • Future Generation Computer Systems
  • Tsinghua Science and Technology
  • Interdisciplinary Sciences :Computational LifeSciences
  • Health Information Science and Systems (confirmed)
  • Methods
  • ACM Publications Policies

By submitting your article to an ACM Publication, you are hereby acknowledging that you and your co-authors are subject to all ACM Publications Policies, including ACM's new Publications Policy on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects. Alleged violations of this policy or any ACM Publications Policy will be investigated by ACM and may result in a full retraction of your paper, in addition to other potential penalties, as per ACM Publications Policy.

Please ensure that you and your co-authors obtain an ORCID ID, so you can complete the publishing process for your accepted paper.  ACM has been involved in ORCID from the start and we have recently made a commitment to collect ORCID IDs from all of our published authors. We are committed to improve author discoverability, ensure proper attribution and contribute to ongoing community efforts around name normalization; your ORCID ID will help in these efforts.

    Author Guidelines

The 2024 ACM-BCB Conference welcomes original submissions that have not been published and are not presently under review. You can submit a  Full Paper (8-10 pages) or a Short Paper (4-5 pages), where the page limit includes references (use double column ACM SIG conference format). While the authors are allowed to include appendices (or supplementary information) beyond the page limit, please note that it is up to the reviewer whether the additional material will be considered in the overall evaluation. In any case, the manuscript and the appendix / supplementary material (if any) should be submitted as a single PDF document.

Accepted papers will be published in the 2024 ACM-BCB Conference Proceedings and appear in the ACM Digital Library (note that  ACM copyright permissions are directly compatible with those of the NIH and are similar to open-access journal policies). Selected full-length original research papers will be invited for publication in special issues of our partner journals.

Submitted manuscripts should comply with the requirements delineated on the  ACM Master Article Template website. ACM-BCB's technical program committee will review and assess all submissions on the basis of their originality, technical soundness, significance, presentation, and relevance to conference attendees. In order to submit their manuscripts, authors should use the OpenReview. All submissions will be peer-reviewed in a double-blind review process by program committee members. Please ensure that the author list is not shown in the submitted manuscript. However, the author list should be final at the time of submission, and any subsequent changes to the author list post-submission must be approved by the program chairs.
